20 Years of High-Fives: Celebrating the Legendary Coach Sandy!
Twenty years. That is not just a milestone. That is huge.
Coach Sandy Hogg has been part of the Ready Steady Go Kids family for 20 incredible years, which means she has been here for almost the entire 22-year history of RSGK. That makes her a true OG, a local legend, and a massive part of our story.
If you know the Sutherland Shire (NSW) team, chances are you know Sandy. She is the warm welcome, the steady presence, the calm voice, and very much The Glue that holds so much together.
The Mother Hen of the Shire
Some people turn up and do a job. Sandy has always done far more than that. She puts the team first, celebrates everyone’s wins, notices the little things, and makes people feel seen, valued, and capable.
Over 20 years, she has become such a big part of the Sutherland Shire story. She has shown up with energy, care, encouragement, and the sort of warmth that cannot be taught.
More Than Just a Coach
Sarah and Blake were the husband-and-wife duo who owned the RSGK Sutherland Shire franchise for 13 years before passing the baton to Loughlin, and Sandy was there with them from day one.
She trained Blake in the early days and helped shape not just how classes were run, but the heart behind them too. Over time, she became so much more than a coach on the team. She became a trusted support, a constant presence, and such a close part of their family that she even attended Sarah and Blake’s wedding.
Heart of the Shire Families
As much as our team loves Sandy, the kids and parents absolutely adore her. For two whole decades, Shire families have been lucky enough to have a coach who is caring, reliable, full of heart, and brilliant at making every child feel special.
You can see it in the big smiles on kids’ faces when they leave her class. You can hear it in the way parents talk about her. Sandy is not just a familiar face in the community. She is a community treasure.
An Absolute Legend, According to Loughlin
Loughlin Pieper, the current franchisee of the last 12 months, said it best:
“Sandy is an absolute legend. In my first year as a franchisee, her wisdom and passion have been a guiding light. She makes every class special and is the heart and soul of our Shire team.”
Honestly, that says it all.
Athletics, Big Dreams, and Classic Sandy Energy
Sandy’s favourite sport is Athletics, which feels very fitting. It is full of energy, movement, and variety, just like her.
And she is still dreaming big too. One thing on her list is to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and we would absolutely love to see her tick that off.
Fun Facts From Our Favourite Local Legend
No Sandy tribute would be complete without the fun facts.
- She loves 4WDing.
- She loves camping under a million stars.
- She enjoys sitting by the campfire, otherwise known as bush TV.
- She loves reading, movies, and craft.
- And yes, she genuinely loves mowing the lawn.
That last one still deserves a moment.
Thank You for 20 Incredible Years
Sandy, thank you for being such a steady, generous, and joyful part of Ready Steady Go Kids for 20 of our 22 years. Thank you for always putting the team and the kids first, and for celebrating everyone else’s wins as loudly as your own.
We are so lucky to have had you, and the luckiest of all are the thousands of children you have coached over the past 20 years. For so many of them, you were their very first coach and their very first sporting influence. They could not have asked for a better start.
You have played a part in so many childhood memories across the Shire, and that is a very special legacy.
Here is to Coach Sandy. A true OG. A massive part of our story. And an absolute legend.
