Meet Bec Foxley: Our 2026 Coach of the Year!

24 June 2026

If you have ever stepped foot onto the court at one of our classes, you know that the energy is nothing short of electric. Between the sound of "fast shoes" squeaking on the floor and the sheer volume of toddler giggles, it is a place where magic happens. But that magic doesn’t just appear out of thin air, it is crafted by the incredible people who lead our sessions.

Today, we are absolutely over the moon to celebrate a woman who has been a cornerstone of our community for over a decade. Grab your coffee, take a seat, and join us in a massive round of applause for our 2026 Coach of the Year, Bec Foxley!

Our Franchisor, Danie O'Connor, summed it up perfectly:
"Bec has been in the RSGK game for such a long time as a previous Franchisee who loved the program so much that she is still employed as a Coach... and an excellent coach at that, and this award just shows her dedication and pure fun & enjoyment that she brings to every class."

And Demi Sidra, the current Franchise Owner who purchased Bec's franchise, had this to say:
"As a business owner, coaches like Bec are invaluable. She is reliable, passionate, and genuinely invested in the success of every child she teaches. Parents regularly comment on her enthusiasm and ability to make every child feel included. Bec represents everything we look for in a Ready Steady Go Kids coach, and I couldn’t be prouder to see her recognised with this award."

From Shy Toddler to Star Coach: Bec’s Journey

We often talk about how Ready Steady Go Kids is more than just a multi-sports program; it is a community. Bec’s own story is the perfect example of this.

Fourteen years ago, Bec was exactly where many of you are right now. She was a mum looking for a way to help her eldest daughter, Paelyn, find her confidence. Paelyn was a very shy toddler, and Bec and her husband Mat were on the hunt for an active activity that might help her come out of her shell.

"I Googled toddler sports and Ready Steady Go Kids came up first," Bec recalls. "We booked in a free trial and, admittedly, Paelyn hated it! But I absolutely LOVED the class."

While Paelyn wasn't quite sure about it yet, Mat noticed something. Bec, a Primary School teacher at the time, was completely in her element. She was getting amongst the drills, cheering on the kids, and having a ball. Mat turned to her and said, "You would be awesome as a Coach."

Well, as they say, the rest is history. Fourteen years later, she isn't just coaching; she’s our Coach of the Year.

Why We Love Having Bec on the Mat

If you ask Bec what a typical class looks like, she’ll tell you it’s all about laughs, energy, and connection. It isn't just about teaching sports, it’s about the relationships built between those colourful cones.

"I just love hearing their news," Bec says. "From showing me their new drink bottle to their brand-new 'fast shoes,' I am so proud that they feel comfortable sharing the important things in their lives with me."

For many parents, those 45 minutes on the weekend or during the week are the only time they get to sit down (well, sort of) and watch their child interact with others. It’s a chance to meet other mums and dads who are also surviving on caffeine and "Bluey" reruns. Bec creates an environment where everyone feels welcome, making it easier for parents to build those much-needed community connections.

The Breakthrough Moments that Matter

Coaching kids sports for over a decade means Bec has seen it all. But some moments stick closer to the heart than others.

One of the most profound experiences for Bec was watching her own two daughters, Paelyn and Kiara, go through the program. Kiara, the "sporty one," is now excelling at Softball. Paelyn, the "quiet achiever" who started out hating her trial, is now a confident young woman who actually coaches alongside Bec on Sundays. She’s even heading towards a career as a Primary School teacher herself!

It’s a beautiful reminder to parents: don’t compare your child to their sibling or the kid next to them. Every child has their own timeline for confidence.

Bec also shared a story that brings a tear to the eye of any parent who has watched their child struggle with gross motor skills:

"I remember one little boy who was having a lot of difficulty with his balance. He struggled on the balance beam for a long time. After a good few terms, something just clicked and he did it! The cheering and tears flowed between myself and his mum: we were so very proud of him."

The "Four P" Tip for Parents

Winning Coach of the Year wasn't something Bec expected. In fact, she was blown away by the kind comments from our community. "I honestly can't see any difference in my classes this year because I go in every week with the same goal: make sure the kids go home happy and wanting to come back," she says.

For parents who are nervous about starting sports for their toddler or preschooler for the first time, Bec has some veteran advice. She calls it the** "Four Ps":

  1. Patience: Not all kids get the skills straight away. It’s a learning process!
  2. Perseverance: Don’t give up after one lesson. It can take a few weeks for kids to feel comfortable in a new environment.
  3. Praise: If your child needs encouragement, give it to them in heaps.
  4. Presence: Be present. Put the phone away (unless you’re grabbing a quick photo). Your kids love seeing you cheering them on and being part of the class.

More Than Just a Game

Whether your child is a future softball star or a quiet achiever who loves to support others, there is a place for them in our classes. And with coaches like Bec leading the way, you know they are in the best possible hands.

We are so lucky to have a community of parents who show up, join in, and support one another. If you see Bec at your next class in Rouse Hill, NSW, be sure to give her a massive high-five! She might be the one with the trophy, but she’ll be the first to tell you that the real winners are the kids who leave the class with a giant smile on their faces.

Congratulations again, Bec! Here’s to many more years of "fast shoes" and breakthroughs.
